3)    Jennifer Wampler (786-9240) from VA DCR and Champe Burnely (358-5801) gave a presentation on Greenway Council and efforts to link up state multi-use greenways and blueways.  Many of these trails do and may in the future run through Richmond and can easily link up with the James River Park.  For those interested the Capital Region Greenway Group will hold a meeting the evening of 1/28/09 at 6 pm in the Byrd Park Round House.

Jennifer also passed this along for you trail builders:  The Professional Trailbuilders Association is holding their national conference in Asheville, NC in March.  This is the first time that this conference has been held on the East Coast.  http://www.trailbuilders.org/

Finally a link to an article that describes the cognitive and emotional benefits accrued by having a park and natural refuge in the hectic urban environment.  They are wonderful and valuable and thanks to all of you for keeping the JRPS beautiful and user friendly.  Increase your attention span and emotional well-being.  Visit the JRPS today!
