TREASURER'S REPORT
1. Treasurer’s Report by Sally W. our resident CPA. Jan.-March ’04 $1900 was spent in excess of what was brought in. About half of banked money has been allocated to current projects. We wait, as do our creditors, for a reconciliation of the books. Unfortunately, Sally has never worked at Enron.

PROJECT REPORT:
2. On a positive note, Ralph W. reports “colorful” fungi and flora have been planted to beautify the park.
3. The Gear Swap was a success. Kudos to all those involved. We reportedly grossed $4100 with $520 from vendors. We made some dough folks. Expect cookies at the Pot Luck.
4. Project Chair Mike McG. Has stepped down from his tenure after confronting the reality of his schedule. Any slackers out there looking for meaningful activity? It is a key to happiness.
5. Kiosk at Belle Isle slated for completion. It looks good. Susanne begins to overcome insomnia.
6. Geese are reproducing like rabbits. Local community dumbfounded. Easter Bunny nervous about potential fertility symbol replacement. Vows to seek sponsorship from Pfizer.
7. Lee Graves, local outdoor journalist, writes in favor of North Shore Take-out. Leadership of Metro Richmond enthused about parks needs for signage and take out. Apparently they are well pleased with the park overall. So are most of us.
8. Trail building proceeding at a rate that makes the geese, or at least the Easter bunny jealous, with clearings at Dory Park. Possible expansion plans for trails near Powhite in association with RMA project proposals. JROC agrees to connect with RMA to request, “ground clearance” for trails. Bikers wish to keep trails out of water areas to protect the trail system during major race events. Ideas bantered. Solution forthcoming. General idea approved by membership.
9. Survey Sez…Steve, Ellen, Greg, and Ralph W. to meet to discuss the relative merits of various survey approaches. Dr. Mills of VCU identified as a potential resource for information. Perhaps a dissertation idea for some haggard graduate student. Volunteers may be gathered from sources as diverse as JROC, Friends of the James River Park and Dominion.
10. Projects that have likely occurred as of this delayed minute presentation. April 17th: fern, bulb and mushroom planting, also trail work.
11. Nathan will explore the beautification of the Belle Isle kiosk, to set it off and make it pleasing to the demanding aesthetic impulses of greater Richmonders.
12. Greg is looking to meet mountain bikers, especially the ones disrupting the meetings with their playful antics and colorful outfits. (Context lost on the note taker with adult ADD.)
13. Mr. Carman, yes the guy with the boundless energy, agrees to update the website. (Note from the Webmaster- Actually, that would be MRS. Carman, who has done a lovely job, thanks!)
14. Ron Wood, ditches studio time with Glimmer Twins Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, to develop a new brochure for JROC, which will highlight our latest projects. It is rumored that his latest release will reprise work with the Faces and draw on influences from Muddy Waters, Chuck Berry and Guinness Stout.
15. Adrain, flushed with success from his T-shirt coup de grace, continues to develop business cards.
16. Potential fundraisers include partnership with the Richmond Whitewater Club for drink tickets sales at the May 1 Cinco de Mayo festival at Brown’s island and the Virginia Roots Bluegrass Festival slated for May 22 at the same location.
17. Over and out from the Under Secretary to whom minutes feel like hours.
