A)    A)    Recent / Current Projects & Issues

1)      1)      Conservation Easement Status: Hambrick reports that in 3-4 months it will go to city council, prepare to contact your representative

2)      2)      North Shore Take Out: $600 approved for gravel, spread 1/20/07 & changing room built and Abse memorial Garden improved.

3)      3)      Kiosk at Pony Pasture to be moved near the park map for visibility

4)      4)      Trail Work: Nathan reports production continues to reroute Phil’s Hill and to stabilize the Hollywood crevice bridge; $500 approved to put a handrail across the bridge.  Ralph White to ask city for handrails at the top of the Belle Isle Quarry.

5)      5)      Parade of Lights and Baskets for Hillcrest residents completed.  Great turn out at parade.

6)      6)      Trail Hikes for Feb. & March see friends of the James River Park website for schedule.

 

B)     B)    Project List

1)      1)      Pumphouse: new plans from the Director, increased cost likely

2)      2)      Others:  Bolt removal on Buttermilk West; graffiti coverage; Swap Meet April 28th

3)      3)      Rich Young proposes end of may float trip for city representatives and park employees.

 

  1. New Business

a)      a)      International Mtn. Bike patrol: Bill Swan reports the committee will consist of Mary Ann & Nat; Nat will run the program.  Larry Miller reportedly in favor of night ride patrol and a program proposal has been drafted.  Motion approved for $1,000 for uniforms and first aid gear, pending city approval of the program.

b)      b)      Fall race in the Park: bill Swan suggests off road bike or dualathalon with 2-500 participants, trail maintenance encouraged by JROC, encourage JROC membership and promotion.
