JROC April 2, 2003 Meeting Minutes

 Approve minutes from March meeting (Dave G.) – MIA, no minutes to approve.

TREASURER'S REPORT
Jims fiscal report last month showed $5743.57 in JROC’s  account ($5600 balance prior report).  Greg had $1,000 higher figure.  Word is out that Jim is in Aruba – expensive paid trip on JROC.
PROJECT REPORT
 SWAP Meet - $5800 in sales- $580 split between JROC and Richmond Whitewater Club-**Richmond WW Club donated their share of proceeds to JROC! 
Garland Memorial will read: "Tredgar access steps 2002 To honor Garland Reese"
Eagle donors:  8x4 plaque  Seal Team, E.I. Dupont
Coastal Canoeist in memory of Garland Reese
Huguenot Woods: changing room damaged.  Ralph cut the door to move and is usable now.  Will leave as is. *Steve donated all building materials for the changing room.  THANK YOU VERY MUCH STEVE!
Manchester Wall:Dan had 6 folks help out to put a new roof on a shed, install 3 new benches, removed debris from flooding and added a new bolt to a climb.  The water was still too high to finish a few other items this time.  $89 spen
PP kiosk:   Move?  Most likely after summer (At this point H came before G in Greg’s alphabet)
Archives: bring articles and things to put in box for future reference
Tree Cutting: JROC sent letter to City Manager & Dir of Parks & Rec about our concerns over the tree-cutting incident. Advised what JROC is Advised will support.  Directors comments to Ralph: He will make a stand. City arborist should quickly accept settlement and not go to court.  Cost $30-40K to repair – remove wood and replace with substantial size trees. Willing to accept $10-15K in repercussion.
Park boundaries are NOT clear to anyone.  Park signs may be necessary even though sign pollution.  Future project – mark boundary of park
Next project: Oregon Hill  :Mike McGuire designed bridge      
Presented to Steve and Ralph- Steve hooked us up with an auger truck, poles and hardware courtesy of Va. Power- Lt. Gov. Tim Kaine wants to do a service project in the park 4/26.  Will be there to finishing decking.  If media is involved and publicity generated for JROC we may make Kaine and honorary member.  If no media, HELL NO on membership, he can pay his own dues.

Adrian working on business cards and membership cards for JROC.  Legends will give members a 10% discount off of a drunk (Greg vouches it works).

Ralph advises he wants to spend JROCs money!
Have spent $100 already (cough cough….WITHOUT permission).  Motion approved for $1000 on Oregon Hill project
 Burch and Kevin Clark on signs in the park.
- Approved $150 for improvement to signs.  Will place sign underneath of old signs to advise of dangerous areas.
Missing Link Trail - Upper part needs gravel - Good volunteer project.
