 Old Biz

Belle Isle Access ? Jason and Greg are working on a location for a boat Access  ramp along Tredegar Street.  Should have more information at the February meeting.

Old Biz

Mayo Island Takeout ? Steve Ellison with Richmond Whitewater Club is working on contacts.  Mark Brown has given up his lease, so no new information from that direction.  The Shaia family owns Mayo Island.  Greg V will try to get in touch with Jay Lewis to see if he is still leasing the shop area.

Old Biz

Piersoll Property update ? There are still two people objecting to the city accepting the 2 acres near the "Z" dam.  Our role is to stay informed and
ready to help.  Ralph White will let us know when and where he can use us.

Old Biz

The December project on 12/9/00 was helping with the Parade of Lights and went real well.  Over 450 people attended ? good press coverage ? will be on the agenda for next year, so put this on next year's calendar.

Old Biz

The January project on 1/7/01 was clearing trees and brush from the Belle Island spillway and this also went well.  We had great weather for January and made the spillway much more visible.  Additional work may be necessary.

Old Biz

Treasurer's Report ? Almost $1,600 in the account.

Other Issues

Elections will be held at the March meeting for all offices.  Really need a good secretary and a membership chairman.  New officers will take office in April.

Other Issues

Trip has completed a draft of the mini-poster for display near the Pony Pasture.  Comments are welcome.  This is planned for a mid-spring installation

 New Biz

Jim Juritsch has updated the web site and demoed it on a laptop.   Hosting and naming options were discussed, but we're still trying to find the cheapest way to do it.

 New Biz

Trip Jennings made a motion with Steve Ensign seconding to add Jim Juritsch to the JROC board.  Motion was approved unanimously.

 New Biz

Personnel from the Richmond Police department saw the fine new rescue board we gave to the Fire Department and has asked us to consider donating rescue slings to the Second Precinct, where a sergeant would keep them available
and safe.  There was discussion about the sling versus multiple throw bags. Alicia will pursue further information on their requirements. Anything we donate should be permanently labeled.

 New Biz

The Richmond Racing Club wants to put up gates in the channels upstream of the nature center and may be asking for volunteers from our ranks to assist.  These gates would be taken down during high water.

New Biz

A video is being developed for park promotion.  The footage seen so far may be inappropriate.  A draft will be brought to the next meeting.
Potential Project The Pump House up by Maymont near the old canal lock has some old damaged
concrete that either needs removal of repair.  Kevin Hale is going to investigate further.
Potential Project Up near the Boulevard bridge there is need for improved access.  The hillside trail and riverbank is eroding with minor injuries to users. Ralph will further examine the area with the idea that railroad tie steps may be desirable.
Potential Project Next meeting 2/7/01
