JROC Minutes – Nov 5, 2003

MINUTES
The October minutes were approved, even though no one had time to check them. Now folks will have time to check the minutes before the meetings so they will likly not be approved in the future.

TREASURER'S REPORT
Looks like we’ve got $7,564.50 bucks in the bank. A motion was made by Buzz and Jim to Pay $110 to Adrian for 1000 JROC business cards. Blue Ridge donated $141. Greg is going to check with Karen A. about the Balance Bar money. The club also made $37.80 from helping at the Homegrown festival, music that is.

PROJECT REPORT
Newer Business Greg is expressed thanks and gratitude to the Friends of the James River Parks for inviting JROC members to the Pumphouse function.
Fencing around the Oregon hill McGuire Memorial Bridge is nearly complete.
North Shore takeout, the push is on. Ralph H is working hard on the political front. Letters have been sent to local TV stations, politicians, etc. Richmond WW has drafted a letter which was dramatically and quickly read by Chris H.
IMBA flyers were handed out for the Nov 20 trail crew weekend workshop
Scott Allison has been working on trail cleanup and would like a larger project to be involved in for Nov 15. Needs supplies. Suggestions for section to work on include areas west of the Nickel Bridge, there are eroded and muddy sections and the trail is generally laid out poorly.
Comcast will be doing team building on the missing link trail (where?) Saturday using 100 sacrete bags to fill in rough spots.
Tree cutting, Romers are rumored to have settled on a figure of $34K.Another land owner has written to the editor about invasive trees growing over his stolen view of the river where he had illegally cut before. Buzz will be drafting a letter for Greg about these issues. Stephen E. made a motion and Steve E. 2nded, approved.
Eagle Donor Plaque has been installed! BUT had a name missspelled! I mean missbelled! I mean…oh forget it. Barry motioned Greg to investigate getting a correction made and Steve E 2nded.
NEXT PROJECTS
Wheelchair ramp. Can we finish this already. Nov 15, 10 am. Framing an extension based around Sally’s guidance of wheelchair needs. Dave motioned we spend $500 and Sally 2nded. Approved.
Kiosks: still working, script for PP has been written and layout begun.

Decals are printed available next meeting.
Gift baskets, Susanne will put together for the Hillsiders again this year. Buzz and Steve approved $400 to be spent.

Membership cards will be ready to hand out when renewal are due in Jan. Draft to be completed by Adrian next meeting.
