JROC Minutes October 6, 2004

MEETING ATTENDEES:
Greg Velzy, Monty McNeil, Steve Ellison, Stephen & Corbin Ensign, Ralph White, Brian Mutchler, Leslie Weisberger, Sally Wetzler, Amy Waters, Ralph Hambrick, Carrie & Vince Carman, Scott Allison, Nathan Burrell, Bob Burch, Nick Kruczynski, Benjamin Moore, Buzz Kraft, Adrian Tait, Jen Slabaugh, Hull Family Systems Inc., Rich and Sandy Young. Members gorged, nibbled, and satiated themselves (and the food.) Following this, chaos was again dispersed as the rock called us to Order.

TREASURER'S REPORT
Treasurer’s report: $6231.30 in the bank. Keep the money coming.

PROJECT REPORT:
Oregon Hill Bridge was discussed. Proposal was made to landscape the city owned property to allow a smaller angle, thus facilitating access. Possible solution of a concrete pad proposed.
Mayo Take Out Improved by the Keaton Bros., Sam and Scott. Thank them when you get a chance.
North Shore take out project proceeds with Greg and Ralph H meeting with the Game and Fisheries people and possible VCU School of Engineering to help with the design as a class project.
Park Boundary Markers: Sally is actively recruiting volunteer project from Dominion Power to help.
High Water Permits: Greg will take the lead in obtaining council sponsorship and Buzz Kraft agrees to obtain a copy of the most recent ordinance for reference.
There is a tree, potential hazard, at the Huguenot Flatwater area. We await the river receding below 5 ft to facilitate removal. It is big and may need to be cut and drug out with equipment.
Pony Pasture Changing rooms need new pipes for the men’s urinal and the women’s facet. Chris Hull volunteers to be lead contact, hopefully not lead contact.
Announced: trail work on 10/23/04 at 42nd St.; Bailey’s Island glass clean up 10/9/04, VA Dept. of Environmental Quality meeting 10/19/04.
Ideas for the Park: a) Vince and Adrian continue work on kiosk refurbishment, including laminated JROC information. b) Ralph W. makes plans for a park map c) Reedy Creek security, again an issue. The address of the location is 4101 Riverside Drive in case the police need an address to file a report. Capt. Seamus should be contacted to help make police aware of the continuing trouble spot. $200 was approved for 4 signs to give v information regarding how to avoid break – ins at Reddy Creek and 42nd St. and what to do if it happens to you. Ralph W. will take the lead on this one. d) Requests for car counters made; if you know anyone interested, direct them our way.
